Tina Kotek & Betsy Johnson are “uninformed” on how to solve the state’s crime crisis

A new assessment from the Democrat-appointed head of the Oregon Department of Correction (DOC) reveals Governor Kate Brown, then-Speaker Tina Kotek, and then-Senator Betsy Johnson had no idea how to address one of the state’s biggest issues: rising crime.

The 25-page analysis, obtained by Oregon Live, outlines the challenges of the DOC and future of the department, specifically noting a major roadblock to their success was “dysfunction” in the Governor’s office and the “uninformed but believe they are informed” mentality from the Democrat-controlled Legislature, once led by Tina Kotek.

A Democrat colleague of Kotek and Johnson in the Legislature even said, “I think the general feeling is we can’t possibly be informed coming from our individual communities as agencies probably want us to be or think we should be.”

That’s embarrassing. Oregon voters should be concerned.

“The least Oregon Democrats could do is their homework and to show up for the job, working with high-priority departments to address the biggest issues that face the crime-ridden state,” said RGA spokeswoman Kaitlin Price. “Democrats have failed this state for decades and crime is spiraling out of control. Oregon families can’t afford another four years of neglect and dysfunction.”
