After winning a heated race to the left against Tom Perriello to become the Democrat nominee for Virginia governor, Ralph Northam is desperately trying to change his well-earned liberal image to win in November. Despite campaigning as the “most progressive” candidate for governor, Northam has called those labeling him as a liberal “confused” in recent TV appearances. But after going farther left than any candidate in Commonwealth history to win the Democrat nomination, Northam’s sudden change of tone isn’t fooling anyone.
The Huffington Post reports:
“But the insider-outsider framework is probably too simplistic to explain his triumph. Northam, after all, embraced or adopted much of the policy framework of the progressive community.”
Ralph Northam may try to convince Virginia voters that he’s not a far-left extremist, but unfortunately for him, they’ve been paying attention.
