States With GOP Governors Dominate CEOs’ 2016 Best States For Business Rankings

As the new 2016 Chief Executive Magazine Best and Worst States For Business rankings show, states with Republican governors continue to be the best places in America for business. This year, the magazine asked 513 CEO’s to rank the best and worst states to do business based on taxes and regulations, workforce quality and living environment.

States with Republican governors dominate the 2016 ranking. In fact, every single one of Chief Executive Magazine’s Top Ten States For Business is led by a Republican governor. In addition, Republican governors also hold 17 of the top 20 states.

Republican governors are reducing taxes, cutting wasteful spending, balancing budgets, enacting right-to-work laws, and most importantly, putting policies in place to make their states engines of economic growth. And as these rankings show – they get results.

Highlights of the rankings include:

  • Greg Abbott’s Texas & Rick Scott’s Florida finished first and second overall for the 12th straight year.
  • Pat McCrory’s North Carolina finished third for the second straight year, thanks to McCrory’s pro-business, low-tax reforms which have led to over 275,000 new jobs.
  • Mike Pence’s Indiana climbed the list to fifth overall, making it the best state for business in the Midwest.
  • Doug Ducey’s Arizona jumped from ninth in 2015 to sixth this year, after his administration implemented regulation reform, making it easier to start and grow a business in his state.
