Statement From RGA Chairman Doug Ducey

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association (RGA) released the following statement from RGA Chairman Governor Doug Ducey:

“The violence we saw last week in Washington, D.C. was reprehensible and unacceptable. There was nothing conservative or patriotic about it and anyone who participated should be identified, prosecuted, and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

“I want to be abundantly clear: Anyone with the intention of interrupting the democratic process or harming their fellow Americans is not welcome anywhere in our country.

“The conservative movement is centered on a mandate that we are ‘one nation under God’ and that the Constitution is the means by which we are governed in this nation. Violence and insurrection cuts against both those beliefs, and those waging it.

“For over two centuries, the peaceful transfer of power — on every level of our government — has made the United States a beacon of freedom across the world. For the sake of our democracy and the individual liberties we hold dear, we must now come together peacefully as a nation to ensure that beacon of freedom still shines bright.”
