Richard Cordray’s Ohio Gov Campaign Plagued By “Baggage” From CFPB Mismanagement

Washington D.C. Bureaucrat Richard Cordray’s controversial record of mismanagement continues to cause headaches for his Ohio gubernatorial campaign. USA Today reports that Cordray’s “baggage” from his mismanagement at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau continues to plague his candidacy, noting the allegations by employees who have called the “agency’s work culture racist and sexist” as well as “high turnover and a lack of transparency.”

USA Today also called the Ohio Democrat primary a choice between “blustery or boring,” referencing Cordray’s lack of passion and energy on the campaign trail that has been noted by multiple Ohio political observers, raising concerns among Cordray’s supporters.

USA Today reports:

“Cordray has baggage, too. Employees at Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which President Barack Obama appointed Cordray to oversee, have called the agency’s work culture racist and sexist.

High turnover and a lack of transparency were problems at Cordray’s CFPB, according to a 2013 report from the Bipartisan Policy Center. The CFPB also offered money to customers of Ally Financial Inc. for discriminating against minorities — without knowing for sure that the recipients were minorities, according to a Wall Street Journal report.”
