Richard Cordray’s CFPB Mismanagement Continues To Create Headaches For His Ohio Gov Campaign

Washington D.C. Bureaucrat Richard Cordray’s record of mismanagement as head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau continues to drag down his campaign for Ohio’s highest office. For months, Cordray has been plagued by reports of the CFPB’s bureaucratic overreach, excessive spending, and even allegations of discrimination on his watch.

But one of Cordray’s most questionable episodes as CFPB director was his decision to spend over $124 million in taxpayer funds on luxurious renovations to the bureau’s new headquarters, a price-tag that far exceeded its original budget. To make matters worse, there are now reports that the building Cordray spent so much in public funds on is now infested with rats.

After spending years wasting America’s taxpayer dollars on luxurious renovations for his federal agency that went millions of dollars over-budget, Richard Cordray is now asking Ohio voters to trust him to watch over their tax dollars as governor. His record of mismanagement proves that he can’t be trusted to lead.

The Daily Caller reports:

Rats — actual rodents — are infesting the newly renovated Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s headquarters, The Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.

Hundreds of the agency’s employees moved into their beautiful $124 million headquarters across the street from the White House in October as construction was still underway. Upon entering, they discovered rats also were making it their home, according to two sources who spoke to TheDCNF on the condition of anonymity.

The $124 million price tag was double the original $55 million estimate and 25 percent over the $99 million estimate approved by Richard Cordray, the bureau’s first director. White House Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney has temporarily taken over the reins of the troubled bureau.”
