Washington D.C. Bureaucrat Richard Cordray’s ties to California Democrat Congresswoman Maxine Waters raise new questions for him following her latest controversial statements. Over the weekend, Waters called for Trump administration officials to be openly harassed in public after White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked to leave an establishment because of her employer.
For years, Waters has been an outspoken supporter of Cordray, telling him in a congressional hearing last year that she “will be with [him] forever” and penning an op-ed praising his “impressive record” at the CFPB. Records show that Cordray met with Waters at least once while he was the CFPB’s director as well.
As Waters campaigns around the country in support of Democrat candidates like Cordray while pushing for the President’s impeachment, her controversial statements raise a serious question for Cordray: Does he agree with her that Trump administration officials should be publicly harassed simply because of their political beliefs? Given his close ties to Waters in Washington D.C., Ohio voters deserve an answer.
