Rhode Island Dem Gov Gina Raimondo Refuses To Admit If She Supports Costly Single-Payer Plan

With Democrat Governor Gina Raimondo’s primary opponent Matt Brown pledging, if elected, to bring a costly Single-Payer plan to Rhode Island, Raimondo continues to remain silent as it becomes a key talking point for Democrat candidates around the country.

Last week, Brown made headlines by putting forward a “Medicare-for-all” Single-Payer proposal that he plans to impose on Rhode Island taxpayers if elected. A new study by the Mercatus Center shows that a similar proposal on a federal level would cost an estimated $32.6 trillion and “require historic tax increases” on working families. Another study of a state-level Single-Payer plan for Maryland also showed that such a system would force massive tax hikes on citizens of every income bracket.

With Rhode Island’s record of budget crises and fiscal challenges during Raimondo’s term, voters deserve to know if she would support imposing a costly taxpayer-funded Single-Payer plan on the people of her state.
