RGA Statement On Vermont Gubernatorial Primary Results

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association (RGA) released the following statements on the results of the Vermont gubernatorial primary:

“The RGA congratulates Governor Scott on officially securing the Republican nomination to continue leading Vermont through these challenging times and ahead to a brighter future,” said RGA Chairman Governor Greg Abbott. “Phil Scott has a proven track record of putting Vermont’s working families first, and his leadership in the face of this pandemic has been no different. From holding the line on taxes and spending to instituting pro-growth policies that make Vermont more affordable for working families, Governor Scott’s inclusive vision makes him the right leader to build an even stronger Vermont.”

“Lt. Governor Zuckerman’s vision for Vermont amounts to a laundry list of higher taxes, more spending, and misguided policies that would make the state more expensive for working families, harder for local small businesses to create and maintain jobs, and would jeopardize the growth Vermont has seen over the past few years,” said RGA Executive Director David Rexrode. “Even his liberal primary opponent understood what a disaster he would be for Vermont and called his views ‘scary.’ Bottom line, David Zuckerman would be wrong for Vermont in any election – in 2020, he’s downright dangerous.”
