RGA Statement Regarding Jerry Brown’s Entry into California Governor’s Race

Nick Ayers, Executive Director of the Republican Governors Association, today issued the following statement regarding Democrat Jerry Brown’s entry into the 2010 race for governor of California:

“We wholeheartedly welcome Jerry Brown to the campaign and look forward to reminding voters about his dismal record as attorney general and his mismanagement of California as governor decades ago.

“Californians are struggling with gridlock and nightmarish commutes as a result of Brown’s past lack of foresight.  They also pay the highest electricity rates on the west coast and endure higher gasoline prices than most of the rest of the country – the result of Brown’s past policies.  We plan to spend the next eight months pointing out where Brown has failed the people of the Golden State throughout his career and how his big-government and high tax plans for the future will further exacerbate the problems.

“Our nominee will be well positioned to win California in November and send Jerry Brown permanently into retirement from public office.”
