Republican Governors Association spokesman Mike Schrimpf released the following statement in response to Governor Gregoire’s announcement that she will not seek another term as governor:
“Governor Gregoire bowed to political reality today, recognizing that Washington voters are ready for new leadership in the governor’s office after more than 25 years of Democratic control. Gregoire’s decision on the heels of Attorney General Rob McKenna’s announcement that he is running for governor is confirmation that the Attorney General will be tough to beat next year. Attorney General Rob McKenna’s vision for Washington – especially his focus on creating jobs and improving neighborhood schools – is exactly what the voters are looking for.”
