RGA Statement on the South Carolina Gubernatorial Primary

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association issued the following statement on the South Carolina gubernatorial primary:

“Governor Nikki Haley is getting the job done in South Carolina and her leadership is making a clear difference in the direction of the state,” said RGA Chairman Chris Christie. “In Governor Haley’s South Carolina, more people are working than ever in the history of the state, unemployment is at its lowest point since 2001, and businesses looking for a place to invest and succeed are eager to put down roots in the low-tax, growth-oriented Palmetto State. As Governor Haley often puts it, it’s a great day in South Carolina, and the Republican Governors Association is proud to support her re-election campaign.”

“The results Governor Haley has achieved speak volumes of her leadership and her devotion to the people of South Carolina,” said RGA Executive Director Phil Cox. “Vincent Sheheen’s priorities are not nearly as clear. Sheheen fought to put violent criminals back on the streets, and he supports expanding ObamaCare in the state. ObamaCare threatens to cripple small businesses and force out good jobs that South Carolinians need. Vincent Sheheen is the wrong choice for South Carolina.”
