RGA Statement On The North Carolina Gubernatorial Primary

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association released the following statement regarding the results of the North Carolina gubernatorial primary:

“With over 260,000 new jobs, a $450 million budget surplus, $4.4 billion in tax relief and key investments in education, the Carolina Comeback is in full force thanks to Governor Pat McCrory’s strong leadership and record of results,” said RGA Chair Governor Susana Martinez. “North Carolina is now thriving as one of the top states to do business in the country while unemployment has plummeted in all 100 counties, two achievements that were unattainable for the state before Governor McCrory took office. The RGA is proud to support Governor McCrory for re-election and we are confident Tar Heel voters will continue this impressive record of success and elect Governor McCrory to a second term in November.”

“In selecting Roy Cooper as their nominee for governor, North Carolina Democrats have gone all-in for an out-of-touch career politician who has spent 30 years in elected office, with a consistent record of supporting bigger government, higher taxes, more regulation, expanding Obamacare and other liberal job killing policies,” said RGA Communications Director Jon Thompson. “Roy Cooper would take North Carolina backwards by implementing the same extreme positions Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are pursuing nationally.”
