WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association issued the following statement on the outcome of today’s Iowa gubernatorial primary election:
“Iowa’s economy is thriving, and the state’s comeback is alive and well thanks to the leadership of Governor Terry Branstad,” said RGA Chairman Chris Christie. “In addition to being an accomplished reformer, Governor Branstad cares deeply about Iowa and the livelihood of the people who call the state home. Another term in office, powered by his results-driven approach, will ensure that Iowa remains strong and its future will be promising. The Republican Governors Association is proud to support Governor Branstad’s re-election campaign.”
“While Governor Branstad has been working for the people of Iowa and acting in the interest of their priorities, Jack Hatch has built a record siding with liberals and bureaucrats,” said RGA Executive Director Phil Cox. “Between his support for higher taxes, his backing of government land grabs under eminent domain, and the hypocrisy he’s displayed by touting transparency even though he refuses to release more than one year of his tax returns, it’s clear that Jack Hatch is wrong for Iowa.”
