RGA Statement on President Obama’s Trip to Wisconsin

Republican Governors Association spokesman Mike Schrimpf released the following statement today regarding the White House’s announcement that President Obama will visit Manitowoc, Wisconsin the day after he delivers his State of the Union address:

“Last November, voters overwhelmingly rejected the tax, spend and borrow policies of Democrats at every level of government and no state did so more dramatically than Wisconsin.

Like most of the country, Wisconsin residents cast their ballots for lower taxes and limited government by electing Republican Scott Walker to the governorship and Ron Johnson to the U.S. Senate, and giving Republicans control of both state legislative chambers.

President Obama would be wise to follow the example being set by Governor Walker and Republicans in the state. The nation, like the people of Wisconsin, wants a chief executive who will focus all his energy on job creation and hold the line on taxes, eliminate red tape and reduce the size and reach of government.”
