RGA Statement on Ohio Gubernatorial Primary

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association issued the following statement on the outcome of tonight’s Ohio gubernatorial primary election:

“Ohio is a better, stronger state today because of John Kasich’s good work as governor,” said RGA Chairman Chris Christie. “Taking it upon himself to right the state’s ship, Governor Kasich has led Ohio to its lowest unemployment rate in six years, a $3 billion reduction in overall tax burden, and hundreds of thousands of new jobs. By putting growth and prosperity over politics and posturing, Kasich has reinvigorated Ohio’s once-struggling economy, delivering results that give each and every Ohioan a shot at a good job, a better life and a piece of the American Dream.”

“Ohio’s path forward is built on the pro-jobs, pro-growth policies Governor Kasich has implemented, not on the kind of far left, tax-and-spend policies by which Ed FitzGerald governs Cuyahoga County and which would surely cripple the now-thriving state,” said RGA Executive Director Phil Cox. “Since his first days on the trail, FitzGerald has proven himself to be utterly unprepared to be governor, and his record simply doesn’t stack up against the real, meaningful success Governor Kasich is achieving for the Buckeye State.”
