The Republican Governors Association congratulated Ovide Lamontagne on his victory in the Republican gubernatorial primary today. Lamontagne will face former state Senator Maggie Hassan, who won the Democratic primary, in the general election.
“Ovide Lamontagne understands that New Hampshire has outperformed the national economy by keeping taxes low and making sure that every dollar the government spends is held accountable,” said Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, Chairman of the Republican Governors Association. “As governor, Ovide will make strengthening the economy and adding more jobs his top priorities, and that’s the type of focused leadership New Hampshire voters are looking for.”
“Unfortunately, Maggie Hassan has consistently supported a higher-tax, bigger government approach during her political career,” said RGA Executive Director Phil Cox. “New Hampshire voters can’t risk harming the state’s economy with a candidate like Maggie Hassan who has supported tax increases throughout her career.”
