WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association (RGA) released the following statement from RGA Executive Director Dave Rexrode on the results of Montana’s Democratic gubernatorial primary:
“Career politician Mike Cooney has been pocketing a taxpayer-funded paycheck for more than 40 years, but all Montanans have gotten in return are higher taxes and fees and more government red tape. After doling out over $1 million in salary and benefits to Cooney, taxes and fees for working families and businesses have gone up by over $100 million on his watch.
“At a time when Montanans are looking for a leader who will create jobs and jumpstart the state’s economic recovery, it’s clear that a bureaucrat who has been in government since the 1970s like Mike Cooney doesn’t have what it takes to move Montana forward.”
