RGA Statement On Indiana Gubernatorial Primary Results

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association (RGA) released the following statements on the results of the Indiana gubernatorial primary:

“The RGA heartily congratulates Governor Eric Holcomb on officially securing the Republican nomination to seek a second term. Governor Holcomb’s determined and compassionate leadership through the COVID-19 crisis clearly demonstrates his dedication to serving his state and the trust he has built with Hoosiers throughout his term,” said RGA Chairman Governor Greg Abbott. “As Indiana faces the economic and public health challenges ahead, Governor Holcomb has already laid the groundwork for a strong recovery though his focus on expanding opportunity for Indiana’s workers, boosting manufacturing, and investing in infrastructure. With nearly 80 percent of Hoosiers giving their governor strong marks for his job performance, it is clear he has earned four more years. The RGA is proud to support Governor Holcomb.”

“First Democrats failed to recruit a top-tier challenger in this race. Then, two out of their three also-ran candidates were forced to withdraw when it became clear they didn’t have the support to get on the ballot. Now Democrats are stuck with a self-described liberal progressive who is backed by far-left fringe activists and has failed to mount any semblance of a credible campaign,” said RGA Executive Director Dave Rexrode. “Woody Myers is deeply out of touch with Hoosier State values, and he’s made it clear he would kill jobs and force Bernie Sanders-style healthcare on Indiana. Hoosiers are seeing the benefits of Governor Holcomb’s next level agenda and we are confident they will vote to continue moving Indiana forward for another four years.”
