WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association (RGA) issued the following statement after Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer admitted to misleading the people of Michigan about her husband’s attempt to gain preferential treatment at a local business while traveling to their vacation home in violation of her guidance to the rest of the state:
“Governor Whitmer’s attempt to dismiss her husband name-dropping her to coerce a small business as ‘humor’ just hours after her office characterized the report as an online ‘rumor’ is an insult to the intelligence of every single Michigander,” said RGA Communications Director Amelia Chassé Alcivar. “Even more disturbing is the double standard Governor Whitmer displayed by urging Michiganders to ‘think long and hard’ before traveling to the very spot where her husband was trying to get in some R&R on his boat. Governor Whitmer’s dishonesty is almost as breathtaking as her blatant hypocrisy – it’s clear that she simply doesn’t think the rules she imposes on Michigan families apply to hers.”
