WASHINGTON D.C. – The Republican Governors Association released a new video for the Louisiana Governor’s race today, highlighting Democrat Governor John Bel Edwards’ refusal to take a clear stand on the Democratic Party’s ongoing efforts to impeach President Donald Trump.
Leading Democrats are ramping up their divisive calls to oust the president from office, including 2020 presidential candidates, prominent members of Congress, and even one of Edwards’ top political allies, Congressman Cedric Richmond – the only Democrat member of Louisiana’s congressional delegation.

“While John Bel Edwards campaigns as a proud Democrat, he’s silent on his party leaders’ calls to impeach the president,” said RGA Deputy Communications Director John Burke. “With one of his closest allies now openly advocating for impeachment proceedings, it’s past time for Edwards to play it straight with Louisianans. Voters deserve an answer: Does John Bel Edwards stand by his party’s efforts to impeach the president?”
