RGA Releases New TV Ad In Kentucky Governor’s Race Featuring Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Putting Kentucky First, an organization supported by the Republican Governors Association (RGA), today released a new television ad featuring Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins speaking out against Andy Beshear’s position on sanctuary cities and failure to oppose policies that bring illegal drugs and crime into Kentucky.

Watch the ad at RealAndyBeshear.com.

Beshear’s refusal to ban sanctuary cities and weak stance on illegal immigration puts him in line with the national Democratic Party, not Kentucky voters. In a powerful testimonial, Sheriff Chaffins expresses his concerns that Beshear is simply “too liberal” and that, if elected, Beshear would allow Kentucky to become a safe harbor for illegal gangs and criminal enterprises that bring dangerous drugs into local communities.

Sheriff Chaffins credits Governor Matt Bevin for working with President Trump to put an end to sanctuary cities and to stop the flow of illegal drugs over the border, stating that, “Governor Bevin is the only one who will protect Kentucky families.”

“By refusing to ban sanctuary cities, Andy Beshear has made clear to Kentucky voters that he’s more interested in appeasing national liberals than keeping their families safe,” said RGA Communications Director Amelia Chassé Alcivar. “Unlike liberal Andy Beshear, Governor Bevin is standing with law enforcement to fight the influx of dangerous drugs that are ravaging communities across Kentucky.”

“Sheriff Chaffins” Script:

Sheriff Norman Chaffins: “As a Sheriff, I’m on the frontlines of Kentucky’s battle against opioids.

I’ve seen how illegal immigration is destroying families by bringing heroin into our communities.

President Trump and Governor Bevin have it right.

We need to ban sanctuary cities.

And Andy Beshear?

He’s too liberal to be governor.

Just like national Democrats, Beshear is weak on illegal immigration.

Beshear even opposes a ban on sanctuary cities.

Governor Bevin is the only one who will protect Kentucky families.”
