Today, the Republican Governor’s Association (RGA) released the latest installment of its “Simply Stated” digital video series profiling GOP governors’ work to transform their states through pro-growth reforms and innovative policy solutions that improve the lives of working families.
The latest video highlights Governor Larry Hogan’s commitment to bringing hope and opportunity to every corner of Maryland by enacting major legislation to incentivize businesses to locate and create jobs in Maryland’s 149 Opportunity Zones. The federal Opportunity Zone program is designed to spur economic growth in underserved communities, and Governor Hogan’s initiative layers state-level tax incentives from his successful More Jobs for Marylanders program on top of the federal benefits in these targeted communities.

Consistently ranked one of the most popular governors in the country, Governor Hogan is continuing to earn his high ratings by instituting more innovative policies that benefit all Marylanders. Shortly after taking office, the governor launched Project C.O.R.E. (Creating Opportunities for Renewal and Enterprise), another pro-growth program focused on removing blighted units in Baltimore City. The program just celebrated a milestone of 4,000 units marked for elimination, paving the way for redevelopment.
“Governor Hogan’s work to boost Maryland’s Opportunity Zones is just the latest achievement in his long record of growth-focused action,” said RGA Communications Director Amelia Chassé Alcivar. “Building on the momentum of successful initiatives like Project C.O.R.E. and More Jobs for Marylanders, Governor Hogan is ensuring that all of Maryland is truly open for business.”
