Today, the Republican Governor’s Association released the latest installment of its “Simply Stated” digital video series profiling GOP governors’ work to transform their states through pro-growth reforms and innovative policy solutions that improve the lives of working families.

The latest video highlights Governor Greg Abbott’s successful push to keep more money in the hands of hard-working Texans while increasing funding to Texas schools.

The reforms championed and signed into law by Governor Abbott include major changes to school finance system, property tax relief, and increases to teacher pay. These changes will introduce a more student-focused approach to school funding, ensuring that a child’s needs – rather than their zip code – will determine funding allocations. Additionally, this legislation will help Texas families by bringing down property tax rates and placing a 2.5% property tax cap on school districts.

Spectrum News Austin describes the reforms as “one of Texas lawmakers’ biggest achievements.” Governor Abbott is leading the way in prioritizing the future of Texas by prioritizing its students and teachers.

“These reforms are just the latest example of Governor Abbott’s commitment to innovative policy solutions to build a better Texas,” said RGA Communications Director Amelia Chassé Alcivar. “From keeping hard-earned money in the hands of Texas families to expanding opportunity for students and teachers, Governor Abbott is working to ensure a brighter future for all in the Lone Star State.”
