WASHINGTON, DC – Mississippi Strong, an organization supported by the Republican Governors Association (RGA), today released a new website and digital ads in the Mississippi governor’s race highlighting the far-left, big government policy agenda embraced by the three candidates running in the Democratic gubernatorial primary.
Titled “Meet The Democrats,” the website and video introduce Mississippi voters to Democrats Jim Hood, Robert Shuler Smith, and Velesha P. Williams and highlight their strong similarities to national Democratic Party leaders like Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Elizabeth Warren.
Shuler Smith counts left wing mega-donor George Soros among his backers. Williams, like Sanders and Warren, backs government-run healthcare. Hood, a career Democratic politician who supported Hillary Clinton for president, is pushing for tax hikes and opposes tax cuts for working Mississippi families.

“Mississippi Democrats like to pretend to be moderate, but when voters meet this group of candidates, they’ll quickly find out they are just like their far-left national party leaders,” said RGA Communications Director Amelia Chassé Alcivar. “From campaigning for Hillary Clinton to cozying up to George Soros, radical Democrats aren’t just in Washington, D.C. – they’re in Mississippi too.”
The 30-second video will target Mississippi voters on Facebook and banner ads will run on the Clarion-Ledger website.
