RGA Raises $53.1 Million In 2019; Sets Off-Year Fundraising Record

WASHINGTON D.C. – The Republican Governors Association (RGA) today announced $53.1 million raised across all entities in 2019. This marks a record sum for the first year of a four-year cycle, an increase of 17.7 percent over the $45.1 million raised in 2015, the last comparable year. The RGA carried no debt into 2020.

“Thanks to the leadership and hard work from our Republican governors, the RGA enters this pivotal election year with a strong foundation and a roadmap for success,” said RGA Chairman Texas Governor Greg Abbott. “Republican governors are transforming our states for the better, driving economic growth, reinventing state government, and delivering results. Ensuring that the RGA has the resources needed to compete and win is critical to keep our states and our nation moving forward.”

“Republican governors continue to be the best investment for advancing common-sense conservative policies across the country, which is why we can expect to continue to see an unprecedented level of spending from the left seeking to advance their liberal agenda,” said RGA Executive Director Dave Rexrode. “The RGA’s strong fundraising program ensures we are prepared to defend our incumbents and grow our majority in 2020 and beyond. I am deeply grateful to all of our governors and our finance team who worked diligently to achieve this record-setting level of financial support.”

The RGA’s robust fundraising operation is critical to success in 2020’s 11 gubernatorial elections, which include six states with Republican incumbents, three states with Democratic incumbents, and open seats in Montana and Utah. In addition to defending Republican incumbents, the RGA will be seeking to grow the majority of GOP governors by seeking to flip governorships in states including North Carolina, Montana, and Washington.
