RGA Launches Round Two of The Blue State Madness Bracket Challenge

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association announced today the winners of the second round of the Blue State Madness Bracket Challenge, an online competition where participants can learn about the destructive policies and failed leadership of Democrat governors and candidates and choose, through a series of head-to-head matchups, the Democrat that is inspiring the most Blue State Madness in 2014.

Last week, visitors to the Blue State Madness site chose from the full field of Democrat governors and candidates, shrinking the pool from 32 to 16. Madness like Governor Pat Quinn’s disastrous Illinois economy, Governor John Kitzhaber’s failing ObamaCare exchange in Oregon, Charlie Crist’s incessant flip-flopping in Florida and Mary Burke’s poor record on jobs in Wisconsin won out last week; they and a dozen fellow Democrats moved on to the next round.

The competition continues this week as participants have the opportunity to select from a second round of new match-ups. In the coming weeks, the field will narrow further, and ultimately, one Democrat will be chosen as the champion of the worst Blue State failed policies.

“Like a number of March Madness brackets out there, the blue state model of governing Democrats and their candidates support is fundamentally busted,” said RGA Communications Director Gail Gitcho. “Luckily for voters in these blue states, this year is an opportunity to stand up, reverse course and choose the new leadership of a Republican governor.”

Blue State Madness, launched last month, is a website designed to serve as a clearing house for news, research and insight related to Democrat governors and candidates. The site is updated regularly with new content, and as the election year progresses, Blue State Madness will present to voters an increasingly complete picture of the downward spiral a vote for a Democrat governor can spark in the states.
