WASHINGTON, D.C. – A Stronger Vermont, an organization supported by the Republican Governors Association (RGA), today released a new digital ad featuring testimonials praising Governor Phil Scott from some unexpected sources – Democratic gubernatorial candidates Lt. Governor David Zuckerman and Rebecca Holcombe.
View the ad below or by clicking here:
In the ad, Zuckerman and Holcombe repeatedly praise Governor Scott’s leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, stating that the governor has “done a very commendable job,” done a good job of “keeping us informed,” and that “most folks across Vermont would agree.” Zuckerman, who has served as Lt. Governor alongside Governor Scott since his election in 2016, also calls the governor “a very decent man who I have a lot of respect for.”
Zuckerman and Holcombe are facing off in Tuesday’s primary election, but the footage in the video calls into question why, exactly, either of the Democrats are running to unseat a governor that they – along with the vast majority of Vermonters – give high marks.
“Vermonters know that Governor Scott is a leader they can count on in good times and challenging times alike – just ask his opponents!” said RGA Communications Director Amelia Chassé Alcivar. “Governor Scott has brought the same compassionate, common sense approach to combating the COVID-19 crisis and ensuring Vermont’s economy will rebound that he’s used to guide the state toward greater opportunity and prosperity for the past four years – and he’s just getting started.”
The ad will run on Facebook starting on Monday, August 10th.
