In a moment of rare candor, Tim Cahill admitted that the timing of campaign donations was not a coincidence.  We’re waiting for the same honesty when it comes to his reckless fiscal record.  In the end, whether Tim Cahill comes clean or not, the facts speak for themselves.”

The Republican Governors Association today launched new television and radio advertisements spotlighting Tim Cahill’s fiscal record of recklessness and history of taking donations from employees of businesses who frequently seek and win contracts from his state treasurer’s office.  The TV ad “Coincidence” and the radio ad “911” began running statewide this morning.  The ads are supported by the website www.TheCahillReport.com.

“In a moment of rare candor, Tim Cahill admitted that the timing of campaign donations was not a coincidence,” said Tim Murtaugh, spokesman for the Republican Governors Association. “We’re waiting for the same honesty when it comes to his reckless fiscal record.  In the end, whether Tim Cahill comes clean or not, the facts speak for themselves.”

In the 30-second television ad “Coincidence,” the RGA details Cahill’s record as a member of Quincy City Council where he raised property taxes on homes and businesses and nearly doubled the city budget. Further, Cahill has also made it a common practice to accept political campaign contributions from employees, officers and associates of firms which seek and receive publicly-financed contracts from Cahill’s office.

In the 60-second radio ad “911,” a woman in distress calls in an emergency on Beacon Hill and describes to the operator the various reckless acts Cahill has committed while treasurer.  In an increasingly exasperated tone, the caller expresses dismay at Cahill’s issuance of state contracts to campaign supporters and his reckless spending on projects such as a makeover of his Lottery offices.
