RGA: GOV. CHRISTIE CLEARLY DEFEATED BUONO IN NJ DEBATE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republican Governors Association Executive Director Phil Cox released the following statement regarding tonight’s New Jersey gubernatorial debate:

“Governor Chris Christie won tonight’s gubernatorial debate hands down. Governor Christie deserves a second term because he has put New Jersey on the path to prosperity. Governor Christie has enacted real reforms including closing an $11 billion deficit without raising taxes, capping property taxes and enacting historic education and pension reforms, while putting New Jersey on a path to the strongest economic growth in more than a decade. As Governor Christie pointed to those accomplishments and shared his vision for the future, Democratic State Senator Barbara Buono’s blind support for Jon Corzine-era policies, including her votes to raise taxes and fees 154 times, came through loud and clear. The approach Buono is selling is the same approach that crippled the state for years with massive tax hikes and spending.”
