RGA Files New FOIA Request With CFPB Over Richard Cordray’s Funneling of Millions of Taxpayer Dollars To Obama Ad Maker

WASHINGTON D.C. – The Republican Governors Association has filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) for records related to Director Richard Cordray’s decision to funnel tens of millions of dollars in no-bid, taxpayer-funded federal contracts to Barack Obama’s campaign ad firm. The request comes after alarming revelations that the CFPB awarded GMMB, a top Democrat campaign ad firm that worked for President Obama, over $58 million in federal contracts, mostly single-bidder contracts. The firm’s most recent contract came in June of this year and was worth $14.8 million, the largest one GMMB had taken since it first did business with the Obama administration.

“Richard Cordray’s decision to funnel tens of millions of taxpayer dollars in lucrative federal contracts to Democrat ad makers raises even more serious questions as he stonewalls on his plans for the 2018 Ohio gubernatorial race,” said RGA Communications Director Jon Thompson. “While scandals continue to pile up around Cordray, Ohioans deserve straight answers about his increasingly questionable record as Washington D.C.’s most power-hungry bureaucrat.”
