RGA Continues Strong Fundraising Success With Over $180 Million Raised In 2018 Cycle

WASHINGTON D.C. – The Republican Governors Association announced today a record-breaking $180.3 million raised in the 2017-2018 cycle, eclipsing the previous fundraising total for a two-year cycle by more than $30 million. The RGA raised $118 million in 2018 alone, setting a fundraising record for the highest total in a single-year effort. These resources allowed the RGA to defend our incumbents, elect a new class of Republican governors, and deny Democrats from taking advantage of their most favorable gubernatorial electoral map in history.

“The RGA is the most effective political organization in the country, and this fundraising success is the direct result of the hard work of every Republican governor,” said RGA Chairman Governor Pete Ricketts. “These resources gave us the ability to stand up against the ‘blue wave’ and elect Republican governors who will continue to lead their states forward, grow jobs and make government more efficient and effective.”

“Democrats boasted that they would achieve double-digit net gains of governorships in 2018, but they failed and had a disappointing Election Night due to the RGA’s better candidates, well run organization, more efficient data, and most importantly, stronger resources,” said RGA Executive Director Dave Rexrode. “The RGA is now in prime position to target key Democrat held seats, defend our incumbents, and grow our majority of Republican governors over the next two years.”
