The Republican Governors Association congratulates Republican Governor-Elect Pat McCrory on his victory tonight, becoming the first Republican elected to the North Carolina governor’s office since 1988.
“Pat McCrory’s positive, results-oriented vision for North Carolina helped him lead the Republican ticket tonight, and with Pat as governor, North Carolina residents can look forward to four years of balanced budgets, limited taxes and economic growth,” said RGA Chairman Bob McDonnell. “I look forward to personally welcoming Pat to the RGA and am pleased we could play a role in his victory.”
The RGA spent nearly $6 million on an independent expenditure campaign in North Carolina, linking Democratic candidate Walter Dalton to outgoing Governor Bev Perdue. The RGA began airing television ads immediately following the Democratic primary in May, and McCrory never trailed.
