The Republican Governors Association congratulates governor-elect Terry Branstad on his election as governor of Iowa. Branstad defeated incumbent Democratic governor, Chet Culver. The Republican Governors Association was a key investor in Terry Branstad’s victory giving over $1.25 million directly to Branstad’s campaign.
“Terry reminded the people of Iowa about the difference that a Republican governor can make,” said RGA chairman Haley Barbour. “When you put Terry’s record against Chet Culver’s, it was an easy choice for Iowa voters. I fully believe Terry will put Iowa back on course to the economic growth the state enjoyed during his previous time as Governor.”
