RGA Congratulates Dan Forest On Securing Republican Nomination In North Carolina Governor’s Race

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association (RGA) today released the following statements on the North Carolina gubernatorial primary election results:

“Dan Forest’s focus on innovative strategies to foster economic growth, expand educational opportunities, and promote individual liberties makes him the clear choice to lead North Carolina toward a brighter future,” said RGA Chairman Texas Governor Greg Abbott. “Lt. Governor Forest’s inspiring message of unity and unleashing the potential of every North Carolinian is resonating with voters across the state. The RGA congratulates Dan Forest on his victory, and looks forward to helping elect him as the next governor of the great state of North Carolina.”

“Lt. Governor Forest has a positive vision for the future that reflects North Carolina values, coupled with a proven track record of success in statewide elections. He earned over 84,000 more votes than Governor Cooper in 2016 and is well-positioned to win this race,” said RGA Executive Director Dave Rexrode. “Roy Cooper has governed as an extreme liberal whose ‘my way or the highway’ approach is holding higher pay for teachers hostage in an attempt force his left-wing agenda on North Carolina voters. The RGA stands ready to support Dan Forest as he fights to bring principled, solution-oriented leadership to the governor’s office.”
