RGA Announces Record Fundraising In First Quarter Of 2020

$14.1 Million Total Represents Most Successful Quarter In A Presidential Year

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association (RGA) today announced that it raised $14.1 million across all entities in the first three months of 2020, surpassing the fundraising totals from the same point in 2016 and 2012, the last two comparable election cycles.

This record-setting first quarter is even more impressive considering that for the majority of March the RGA’s focus shifted from fundraising and political communications to supporting the efforts of Republican governors as they worked to confront the COVID-19 pandemic. When the RGA’s strong fundraising results from 2019 are combined with the record-setting numbers from 2020, the RGA will have significant resources available to win critical gubernatorial races across the country and expand our majority.

“As Republican governors are working tirelessly to protect our citizens and lead America’s economic recovery, electing strong leaders in our state capitols has never been more important,” said RGA Chairman Governor Greg Abbott. “We are deeply grateful to all the individuals and organizations that continue to support the RGA and the work Republican governors are doing as we face these challenges together.”

“Republican governors are taking bold action to save lives all across the country, protect small businesses and working families, and preserve economic prosperity,” said RGA Executive Director Dave Rexrode. “This record-setting first quarter puts the RGA in a strong position to support their efforts and ensure more Americans benefit from Republican governors’ steady leadership.”

Taking advantage of this strong financial position, the RGA announced a significant investment in Missouri earlier today to support the strong leadership of Governor Mike Parson and will be making sizeable investments in other 2020 states in the weeks and months ahead.
