Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal was elected chairman of the Republican Governors Association today and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker was elected to serve as vice chairman.
“Governors are the future of the Republican Party and I am deeply honored to be elected chairman of the Republican Governors Association,” said Governor Bobby Jindal. “By implementing pro-growth, reform agendas, Republican governors are providing a roadmap for the GOP. I look forward to helping elect Republican governors in 2013 and 2014.”
In addition to Governors Jindal and Walker, the following governors will comprise the RGA’s executive committee:
- Florida Governor Rick Scott
- New Jersey Governor Chris Christie
- New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez
- Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett
- South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley
- Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell
“Republicans’ ability to make gains at the gubernatorial level in 2012 and become the first political party in a dozen years to reach 30 governors is proof that voters are responding to the type of results-oriented conservative leadership being provided by Republican governors,” said Governor Scott Walker. “The American people want their political leaders to tackle the toughest issues, reform entitlements and balance budgets while holding the line on taxes. That’s exactly what Republican governors are doing.”
