Republican-Led States Are Back To Work

WASHINGTON, D.C. – It is no surprise that low trending unemployment is here to stay in Republican-led states. Credited to the leadership of Republican governors, these states remain open for business. According to the data released this morning by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Republican governors lead the states that top the nation with the lowest unemployment rates while Democrat governors control the states with the highest.

Nine out of the top ten states with the lowest unemployment rates are Republican-led, including:

  • Nebraska
  • Utah
  • New Hampshire
  • South Dakota
  • Idaho
  • Vermont
  • Alabama
  • Montana
  • Oklahoma

The ten states with the highest unemployment rates are all Democrat-led, including:

  • Louisiana
  • Pennsylvania
  • Illinois
  • New Jersey
  • California
  • Hawaii
  • New York
  • Nevada
  • Connecticut
  • New Mexico

Of the states whose unemployment rate is below the national average, twice as many are led by Republican governors than those that are Democrat-led. The average Republican-led state unemployment rate is 4.4% while the Democrat-led average is 6.0%, which is higher than the national average at 5.9%.

“Evidenced by skyrocketing inflation and record high unemployment rates in Democrat-led states, it’s clear that Biden’s disastrous economic policies and the Democrat governors going along with them are to blame,” said RGA Communications Director Jesse Hunt. “As Republican governors continue to challenge Biden’s overreaching federal policies, defend American freedoms, and foster a business-friendly environment, their states are the best states to earn a living and pursue the American Dream.”
