Republican Governors Respond to an Alarming September Border Report

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a Friday night news dump last week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection released the migrant encounter and enforcement update for the month of September revealing the alarming impact of Biden’s border crisis. The record breaking number of unaccompanied children and deadly drugs continue for another month, contributing to the over 1.7 million illegal immigrants and 11,000 pounds of fentanyl apprehended over the last year.

These mark the highest numbers ever, surpassing the record for migrant apprehensions set more than two decades ago. The crisis rages on as another month passes without adequate federal action from the Biden administration and Republican governors can no longer cover for them.

At the request of Republican governors, Joe Biden continues Title 42 health restrictions and, as expected, a majority of noncitizens encountered were expelled, helping to control the overwhelming surge. Yet, Republican governors like Greg Abbott say it is still not enough; more federal action is needed now to secure the border.

Take a look at what else Republican governors are saying:

The Biden Administration is AWOL. The Administration has abandoned any pretense of securing the border and has left it only to the state of Texas to secure our own border.” Texas Governor Greg Abbott

Month after month, we see a hundred, two-hundred thousand people coming illegally. He inherited a policy under President Trump that was effective and now it’s a disaster… It’s his job to secure our country, and he’s failed to do so. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis

We’ve seen an immediate uptick in deaths coming from drugs and it is a direct correlation with what is happening at the southern border.” West Virginia Governor Jim Justice
