Ralph Northam and Tom Perriello To Push Records Of Flip-Flops At Arlington Forum

Tonight, Virginia’s two Democrat gubernatorial candidates, Tom Perriello and Ralph Northam, will go to Arlington for a forum where they will each try to convince Virginians that they are the most far-left candidate to lead the Commonwealth. As the two failed politicians have tried to sell themselves to left-wing primary voters, they have flip-flopped on numerous issues of consequence at a dizzying pace. Since it may be hard to keep track of all the 180’s and non-answers Northam and Perriello have made since entering the race, here’s a list of just a few of them:

The Second Amendment:

While in Congress between 2009 and 2011, Tom Perriello bragged about voting with Republicans 60 percent of the time and was endorsed by the National Rifle Association, which he touted often on the campaign trail. Since running for governor, however, Perriello has changed his tune, calling the NRA a “nut-job extremist organization.”

Progressive Values:

When he ran for lieutenant governor in 2013, Northam described himself as a moderate Democrat: “I don’t consider myself as a liberal. I consider myself as a moderate person. I think the less government, the better.” Today however, he sings a different tune: “if you talk about progressive values… I’ve been there every step of the way since I entered public service.”

Voting For Republicans:

Northam’s claims to holding “progressive values” since he entered public office is even more laughable given his voting history. Northam admitted that he voted twice for George W. Bush for president in 2000 and 2004. Northam has used the excuse that he was “underinformed” for voting Republican twice.

Campaign Finance:

Tom  Perriello’s populist campaign against big money politics was exposed as phony after it was revealed that half of the $2.2 million raised by his campaign came from a handful of donors, including liberal billionaire George Soros. Despite being exposed as a hypocrite, Perriello is doubling down, now calling for publicly financed campaigns in Virginia while he goes to Boston to fundraise with wealthy liberals.

Sanctuary Cities:

While running for State Senate, Northam cited “the need for an efficient way for sheriff’s and state police officers to report illegals to federal officials.” But since he embraced his role as Terry McAuliffe’s anointed successor, Northam has moved left on the issue to attract Democrat support, advocating for in-state tuition and drivers’ licenses for illegal immigrants and even bragging about casting the tie-breaking vote on a sanctuary cities bill.

Energy:

But one area where both candidates seem to equally obfuscate on is energy issues. While Tom Perriello has taken endless heat for shamelessly flip-flopping on offshore drilling, Ralph Northam continues to duck any questions on where he stands with Virginia pipeline construction. Even when asked point blank at Saturday’s debate on the subject, Northam said he won’t “stand here on the witness stand and respond…”

As both Ralph Northam and Tom Perriello continue to shamelessly flip-flop on issues of consequence for the sake of political convenience, they further show mainstream Virginia voters that they are nothing more than craven politicians willing to say anything to get elected.
