Race Ratings Change: Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball Moves Maryland Governor’s Race From LEAN To LIKELY Republican

Following a new poll showing GOP Governor Larry Hogan holding a commanding 16 point lead over far-left Democrat challenger Ben Jealous, Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball has moved the Maryland governor’s race even further in the GOP direction, from ‘Lean’ to ‘Likely’ Republican. The move follows a disastrous month for Jealous’ campaign during which he dropped an “f-bomb” on a reporter for inquiring about his ties to socialism.

Crystal Ball explains that Hogan “appears to be in good shape,” draws “sky-high approval ratings” and is polling above 50% in the general election. Even Ben Jealous’ internal polls find Hogan far ahead in the race.

“Jealous, running as an unapologetic liberal, may not be a great fit even in liberal Maryland given that Hogan was elected as part of what might best be described as a tax revolt against then-outgoing two-term Gov. Martin O’Malley (D),” concludes Crystal Ball. “…we see Hogan’s odds as improving and we’re moving the race from Leans Republican to Likely Republican.”
