Governor Steve Sisolak released an ad yesterday boasting about Nevada’s economy, saying “unemployment is low” in the state, and claiming he proposed no new taxes on Nevadans.
Quick fact check:
- Nevada was ranked as the 3rd worst state in live in just last year,
- Nevada currently has the 2nd highest unemployment rate in the country,
- Sisolak signed legislation allowing counties to increase fuel taxes and sales taxes,
- And Sisolak signed controversial legislation to increase taxes on businesses despite heavy pushback.
“At nearly every opportunity, Governor Sisolak voted to raise taxes on Nevadans and it’s a slap in the face to every hardworking family to claim otherwise,” said RGA Spokeswoman Maddie Anderson. “With Nevada’s unemployment rate among the highest in the country thanks to Sisolak’s lockdowns and restrictions on small businesses, Sisolak may want to check his pants — I’ll bet they’re on fire.”
