Oregon Democrats are dodging

Longtime Democrats Tina Kotek and Betsy Johnson share more in common than just failed records. Both candidates are dodging questions about different problems they face on the campaign trail.

Betsy Johnson doesn’t want answer to why she “believed the state of Oregon and taxpayers should take sole responsibility for her car crash.”

The Oregonian: On Wednesday, Johnson did not respond to a phone call seeking comment, and her campaign declined to comment and refused to answer questions emailed by The Oregonian/OregonLive.

Tina Kotek doesn’t want to answer how she would address Measure 110. The failure of Measure 110 has gone on under Kotek’s leadership and she should have a plan for how to correct the disastrous roll out that has drastically spiked drug abuse and overdose deaths

CBS News 10: Democratic candidate and former speaker of the Oregon house of representatives Tina Kotek and her team said they did not have a free 15 minutes for a Zoom interview to discuss her stance and goals for Measure 110. News 10 had an interview scheduled with Kotek for Friday, June 10th. However, Kotek’s Communications Director Katie Wertheimer canceled that interview the same day with no replacement day or time presented. For the past two weeks, News 10 called, texted and emailed Wertheimer several times to reschedule the interview, however she eventually told News 10 Kotek’s schedule was “jam-packed.” She said Kotek couldn’t find 15 minutes over the past two weeks to speak with News 10 on a Zoom call about Measure 110.

“Democrats ducking questions and avoiding the responsibility to answer to Oregonians on some of the biggest issues in this gubernatorial race proves these candidates have learned nothing in their tenure,” said RGA spokeswoman Kaitlin Price. “The state is desperate for a new leader who is equipped to address big problems with real policy solutions and outcomes.”
