NEW TV AD: Kelly Won’t Protect Women & Girls

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association Kansas 2022 PAC launched a new TV ad today featuring college swimmer Riley Gaines telling voters the truth about Democrat Laura Kelly’s record twice vetoing legislation to ban athletes born biological men from competing in girls’ sports.

Gaines is a 12-time NCAA All-American, five-time SEC Champion and record holder, and two-time Olympic trial qualifier who tied transgender swimmer Lia Thomas at the NCAA finals earlier this year. The new ad is the second spot from RGA Kansas that features Gaines and the second ad to include a clip from Kelly’s own controversial ad where she lied to voters about her position. Reporting from The Topeka Capital Journal, The Kansas City Star, and The Anderson County Review all highlighted how Kelly struggled to defend her new ad and failed to respond adequately to the criticism of her response.

“Kansans deserve to know the truth about Democrat Laura Kelly’s record prioritizing a radical transgender agenda in schools and sports,” said RGA spokeswoman Joanna Rodriguez. “When given the chance, Kelly repeatedly failed to stand with parents and students, and she’ll keep failing them unless she’s stopped in November.”

Laura Kelly: “Of course men should not play girls’ sports.”

Riley Gaines: “That’s what Governor Kelly says now when she needs your vote, but when she had the chance to protect girls, she said no – twice vetoing laws to keep men out of girls’ sports.

“Female athletes deserve an equal chance to compete.

”Instead of doing what’s right, Laura Kelly supported the transgender agenda, and girls like me are paying the price.

“We don’t need politicians like Laura Kelly who won’t protect us.”
