New Poll Shows GOP’s Ed Gillespie In Strong Position For Victory In The Virginia Governor’s Race

A new poll in the Virginia governor’s race shows the GOP’s Ed Gillespie in strong position for victory this November. The new Monmouth poll shows Gillespie and Northam currently tied at 44-44 each, with Gillespie leading among independents and attracting more support from his own party than Northam does from his fellow Democrats. As Ed Gillespie offers Virginia’s a substantive plan to improve and grow Commonwealth jobs and expand economic opportunity for all Virginians, Ralph Northam’s far-left extremist campaign agenda continues to show how out-of-touch he is with voters.

Monmouth University Polling Institute reports:

“The race for Virginia governor is neck and neck in the first Monmouth University Poll  of the 2017 election there.

Currently, 44% of likely voters support Republican Ed Gillespie and 44% support Democrat Ralph Northam. Libertarian candidate Cliff Hyra gets 3% of the vote and 9% are undecided. Gillespie has 91% support among his fellow Republicans and Northam has 88% support among his fellow Democrats. Independents prefer the GOP nominee by a narrow 42% to 38% margin.

‘Compared to his 2014 performance, Gillespie is currently holding similar leads in both central and western Virginia. Northam’s lead in northern Virginia, on the other hand, lags the current incumbent’s margin there from 2013. These dynamics are serving to keep the 2017 race neck and neck right now,’ said Murray.”
