New Poll: Massachusetts GOP Gov Charlie Baker Holds Wide Lead Over Dem Opponents In 2018 Race

A new WBUR poll shows Massachusetts GOP Governor Charlie Baker in strong position for re-election, leading all of his Democrat challengers by large margins with less than a year to go until Election Day. Not only does Governor Baker enjoy a strong 67% approval rating overall, but he leads his closest Democrat opponent by 34 points. The poll also indicated Governor Baker’s support comes from both sides of the aisle, with two thirds of Democrat voters giving him positive marks. As he continues to achieve real results by pursuing a bipartisan, pro-growth policies to expand opportunity, Governor Baker finds himself in prime position for re-election in one America’s bluest states.

“Baker is viewed favorably by 67 percent of the state’s voters, and the Republican holds leads of at least 34 points against his three declared Democratic challengers.

Baker is up 59 percent to 19 percent over Jay Gonzalez, 60-21 over Bob Massie, and 58-24 over Setti Warren…

…Baker, on the other hand, is viewed favorably by 70 percent of his fellow Republicans, 67 percent of unenrolled voters and 66 percent of Democrats…

Just 27 percent of Massachusetts voters view the Republican president favorably, compared with 66 percent who have an unfavorable view of him.”
