Months into the general election for Nevada’s gubernatorial race, Democrat Steve Sisolak still doesn’t have the endorsement of his primary opponent Chris Giunchigliani. This weekend, when asked by The Nevada Independent if she would support Sisolak’s candidacy, Giunchigliani made it clear that she is “not endorsing Steve.”
Giunchigliani’s refusal to back Sisolak’s candidacy comes after a nasty primary feud that Nevada political columnist Jon Ralston referred to as a “bloodbath,” mirroring the 2016 Clinton–Sanders Democrat primary battle as both candidates moved further to the left and spent large sums of money just to win over their own party’s voters. Now it appears that Sisolak’s costly primary fight is still hurting his chances as Nevada Democrats remain divided over his candidacy.
