Martin O’Malley: Still Moving Maryland Backward

The Republican Governors Association released its third ad in Maryland today about Martin O’Malley’s failed economic policies.  The ad can be viewed on the RGA’s website, www.MartinsMess.com.

“Martin O’Malley took a $1.6 billion surplus and turned it into a billion dollar deficit,” said RGA spokesman Chris Schrimpf.  “Then, O’Malley raised taxes and more than 100,000 jobs were lost.  When O’Malley became governor, he put Maryland in reverse, but Bob Ehrlich has a plan to move Maryland forward again.  Ehrlich created 100,000 jobs when he was governor and can do it again.”

A transcript of the ad is below:

Martin O’Malley says he’s moving Maryland Forward…

But as Governor, O’Malley took a one point six billion dollar budget surplus and turned it into a billion dollar deficit.

O’Malley’s solution to close the budget deficit?  The largest tax increase in Maryland history.

Under O’Malley, spending increased, taxes were raised, and more than 100,000 jobs were lost.
