Malloy’s Connecticut Loses Even More Jobs

A new report from the Connecticut Department of Labor showed the state lost over 1,600 jobs in February as unemployment grew, putting Connecticut further behind the rest of the country under Democrat Governor Dan Malloy’s failed leadership.

“Preliminary Connecticut nonfarm job estimates from the business payroll survey administered by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) show the state lost 1,600 net jobs (-0.1%) in February 2017…”

Job losses have plagued Malloy’s Connecticut for years despite his promises for employment opportunities as a candidate. Just weeks ago, the Hartford Courant reported that Connecticut as a whole lost jobs in 2016 while other states increased employment. The Labor Department’s report also noted that Connecticut’s unemployment rate increased in February.

Connecticut’s unemployment rate for February moved by two tenths of a point to 4.7%… The number of the state’s resident unemployed increased by 4,500 seasonally adjusted, in January.”

Under Malloy, Connecticut has lost large job providers including GE and Bristol Myers-Squibb, both of which announced they would be leaving the state, which was recently ranked by CNBC as the 7th worst state for business in the United States due to Malloy’s policies

With business departures, crumbling infrastructure, and even more job losses, Dan Malloy’s lack of leadership continues to be a complete catastrophe for the people of Connecticut. His negligence puts the state in a desperate position for a new direction.
