Maine lobstermen can’t Find Gear to Comply with New Federal Regulations

Democrats like Janet Mills and Joe Biden are working overtime to make it impossible for Maine’s lobstermen and lobsterwomen to make a living — this time by requiring the lobster industry to use gear that does not exist in the state.

New regulations enforced by the Biden administration require special ropes or links to help protect right whales. The problem? These weakened ropes have no real other purpose outside the fishing industry, so companies often don’t want to manufacture them,” according to the Bangor Daily News.

This comes after Governor Mills moved forward with her offshore wind plan that will further crowd fishing grounds and President Biden banned lobstering in some of the most profitable months of the year for the fishing industry.

“Janet Mills and Joe Biden continue to swing a sledgehammer at the livelihoods of fishing communities around the state,” said RGA spokesman Will Reinert. “While Governor Mills likes to say she supports lobstermen and lobsterwomen, the only action she takes hurts their bottom line. What more, Mills still refuses to personally lobby President Biden to abandon his plans to decimate the lobster industry.”
